Beta Readers →Self-published and indie authors take a different route from the traditional publishing path—and they do it for many reasons.
It may be the desire for greater creative control, the wish to bypass the often time-consuming and demoralizing process of traditional querying, the freedom to publish something outside current market trends, limited resources, or the willingness to take greater risks for a greater share of the reward. Whatever the reason, indie authors tend to share one thing: passion for their work.
Passion alone, sadly, is not enough.
For independent stories, being written is only the first step. Without visibility, even a story worth reading can disappear unheard. Stories that aren’t shared are easily forgotten. For indie authors without the reach of a traditional publisher, word of mouth can make all the difference.
But that word of mouth has to begin somewhere beyond family and close friends.
That is the idea behind Indie Support: creating a community and helping good work find its way from one reader to the next. It starts with an author asking someone to take a chance on their story—to beta read, ARC read, recommend it honestly, or simply pass it along.
If my stories interest you and you’d like to become part of this little world of mine, you can find more information under Beta Readers and ARC Readers below.
I also believe support should travel in both directions. That is why there is a third place here for fellow indie authors. Besides being a writer, I’m a reader, and I’m always willing to consider an interesting story. You can invite me to beta read a manuscript, ARC read an upcoming release, or simply read one of your already-published books.
Word of mouth starts with a single reader, after all.
Money and reviews are not currency here. Nothing is expected, promised, or owed. Support should come from willingness, not transaction.
